The Center was created to meet several goals in line with the vision of His Majesty namely:

• Contributing to the fulfillment of Oman’s goals in the areas of culture and science.
• Strengthening ties and cooperation with cultural, scientific and academic institutions and similarly specialized centers abroad.
• Working toward: promoting Omani culture, disseminating the productions of Omani cultural and scientific thought, and opening the door for other cultures to benefit from them.
• Contributing to: instituting and nurturing Omani values, fostering the culture of inter-faith and inter-cultural dialogue, and working on reinforcing shared principles and values.
• Participating in showcasing the civilizational, cultural and scientific heritage of Oman at the regional and international levels.
• Taking part in studying Oman’s needs for knowledge, skills and expertise in various cultural and scientific fields.

How Can the Center Meet the Above Goals?

• Developing scientific research and studies, and organizing conferences and seminars in the areas of culture and science.
• Supporting and encouraging the release and dissemination of publications in the areas of culture and science, and making them available to various local, regional and international libraries.
• Providing sources of knowledge and information on culture and science.
• Translating and disseminating the productions of Omani thought in foreign languages, and working on identifying and following major cultural works to translate them into Arabic.
• Overseeing, attending to and addressing the affairs of Royal mosques.
• Supervising institutes of Islamic studies and Holy Quran schools, as well as Center-affiliated libraries.
• Managing, attending to the interests of and developing the resources of the Center’s religious endowments.
• Supervising Sultan Qaboos cultural and scientific centers and seats abroad.
• Establishing cultural and scientific cooperation and knowledge with similar institutes abroad.
• Encouraging and promoting various activities in the fields of culture, arts and literature.

To significantly contribute to the enrichment of intellect, culture, science, research and cultural communication locally and internationally, reinforce  Omani cultural identity, support and publish scientific  studies and research, provide educational services, and initiate cultural and scientific cooperation with simillar institutions and centers within the sultanate and aboard.
